Large Hadron Collider

Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a particle accelerator, currently in the final stages of construction at the CERN Geneva for collisions between protons and heavy ions.

LHC particle accelerator is the largest and most powerful ever built by man, designed to collide protons in the center of mass energy of 14 TeV, never reached so far in the laboratory. It is built within a 27 km long underground tunnel on the border between France and Switzerland, which was originally dug to build the Large Electron-Positron Collider (LEP).

Here are the photos ... absolutely fantastic.

forgot ... some say the LHC could lead to the destruction of Earth by creating a black hole that would swallow up the earth in about 50 months .
